Mathilde Vialle and Alice Julien-Laferrière met in 2007 while studying at the National Superior Conservatory of Music in Lyon (CNSMD). Since then they have been playing together in various formations. Both curious to discover new repertoire and to play together, they founded a duet: the viola da gamba and the violin offer infinite possibilities that they want to share and to discover.
Pieces for violin and viol inserted in a manuscript of the Wolfenbüttel library, the Ludwig Partiturbuch, were the departure of their duet work. These pieces happen to be period transcriptions of keyboard works by J.J.Froberger for the setting of the duet violin and bass viol. They worked many years on this programme, enriched by a transcription and adaptation work that led them to record their first disc, Froberger en tête à tête, presenting an original aspect of the work of this incredible 17th century German composer.
They record their second record, in February 2018 for the same label, dedicated to the music of Louis Couperin. This disc will be released in September 2018.
The duet performed in France and Germany, such as the programmation of the festival de Radio France in Montpellier, or the Académie Bach in Arques-la-Bataille.
